The Tuscany Marble Place Mat And Coaster Set is hand made in the UK from Carrara marble. Carrara marble is exclusively indigenous to the rock faces of Tuscany, Italy, and is an infusion of blue, grey, green and white swirls of compound metamorphic calcite. Carrara marbles distinctive colours come from the presence of high levels of Serpentine (an iron/magnesium based mineral) within its rock structure, and is formed over thousands of years. EASY CLEAN marble is a non-porous rock, so cleaning its smooth, impenetrable surface is easily achieved with a warm, damp cloth
13MM GAUGE AND VERY HEAVY all mats are of 13mm gauge, making each thick, dense piece very heavy. This assures the longevity of the place mats, although customers need to take care when receiving their delivery and with the handling of them during use. Dropping a place mat will devastate the surface it lands on

NOTES ABOUT COLOUR the place mats contain swirls and interpolations of blue, grey, green and white marble, with the overall colour effect from a distance being black, due to the higher presence of deep blue and grey colours.
